MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

Mental Health Services

Since 1976, JASA has offered geriatric mental health services in recognition that older adults have unique psychological needs. Today, JASA continues to provide and expand a variety of services to support older adults who have behavioral health issues, helping them to lead healthier and more fulfilled lives.

Geriatric Mental Health Clinic

JASA maintains a New York State-licensed outpatient mental health clinic in the Bronx. This clinic offers a range of treatment options for seniors suffering from mental health issues. Services include individual and group treatment, pharmacological therapy, and assistance in accessing a broad range of community-based social services. Services are provided at our clinic, at our five satellite clinics, via telehealth, and in clients' homes as medically necessary on a limited basis.

No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay; and there is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income.

Friendship Houses

JASA's Friendship Houses offer supportive environments that welcome individuals 55 and older who are living with a mental health condition.

The Friendship Houses are psychosocial clubs, which utilize an adapted Clubhouse model, where staff and members work side by side to carry out the tasks of running the program. The social and community engagement offered reduce isolation, build living skills, and promote self esteem. Activities include wellness and health promotion, peer support and socialization, and volunteer opportunities. Programming is delivered in person at our sites as well as virtually.  Limited transportation assistance is available.

Friendship Houses are co-located with JASA Older Adult Centers so members also can benefit from nutritious lunches, joint programming, and connections to the larger JASA network of services.
