Conversation and companionship combat loneliness. Share a story, read the newspaper, chat about history with a homebound or frail elderly person in their home during a weekly visit. Six-month commitment required.
TeleConnect (Telephone Reassurance)
When the phone rings, a face lights up. It's a volunteer calling an isolated senior every week to inquire about his/her situation. Just knowing that the volunteer cares is important. JASA provides training and ongoing support. Six-month time commitment.
Escort Services
Let's get out and get going. Volunteer to accompany an elderly person to:
- Grocery store
- Physician's office, pharmacy
- JASA Senior Center
- Lecture, exhibit
