Jeff Kesten
Artist & Senior Center Member

Four years ago, Jeff gave his older neighbor, a JASA member, a ride to JASA’s Scheuer House of Manhattan Beach Senior Center. “I saw they served Kosher food and that's what I needed, so I got involved.” Jeff became a regular member of the Senior Center and constantly lends a hand with setting up rooms for events, and making sure people are fed.

Jeff soon got involved with the Center’s art classes, which enabled him to work with acrylics, oil, and water colors. “I used to do art when I was in college, but didn’t have much time when I was working.”

As a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years, Jeff’s job kept him busy working the night shift. Now, Jeff can enjoy taking care of his neighbors, going for morning swims in the ocean, familiarizing himself with computers, and entertaining others by playing the piano. He also loves working with his daughter, Huvi, who has inherited his passion for art.

Huvi is a student at his alma mater, Brooklyn College, and is now majoring in art history. “We try to do things together. But truthfully, I’m more into doing, while she is more into the history of art.” Jeff is ecstatic that her interest in arts and painting has carried over a generation and he looks forward to what artwork they will create together.
