General Responsibilities:


Under the supervision of site manager or a kitchen cook, a community aide will be responsible for the entire salad bar set up, breakdown, stocking of menu items, sanitation, cleanliness, and serving.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:


     Roll the salad bar into the lunch room. Unfold the salad bar and when finished fold the salad bar up and return to the kitchen.

     Add cooling packs. When finished remove cooling packs and return to freezer

     Place menu items within salad bar. When finished remove items and transfer them to a clean holding pan.

     Place dressing packets and disposable bowls on a side table. When finished return items to the proper holding area.

     Place serving utensils for transferring of menu items to clients’ plates.

     Place service gloves on side station.

     Wrap and label returned menu items with name and date.

     Prepare labeled and dated backup pans of menu items.

     Transfer menu items to refrigerator for the next day’s service.

     Bring used pans and utensils to dishwashing.

     Clean and sanitize salad bar.

     Let the cook or manager know of any ingredients which will need to be ordered.

     Assist in cleaning, cooking, panning and serving fresh food and packaged cooked food.

     Move, unpack and store food and supplies.

     Receive and refrigerate all foodstuffs as soon as delivered.

     Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of food storage.

     Assist in taking food inventory in the kitchen.

     May be required to perform daily cleaning in the dining room and kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, cupboards, shelves, racks, work surfaces, cooking equipment and utensils, etc.

     Perform other related tasks as requested or assigned.









     High School Diploma or G.E.D.

     Solid interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

     Experience in social or community services preferred.

     Climbing stairs may be required.

     DOH Food Protection Certificate required (must be obtained within the first 6 months of start of position).

     Must be able to read and speak English. Additional languages helpful.

     Ability to stand for long periods of time.

     Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

     An understanding and appreciation of the roles of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, and individual values as they relate to serving clients and families.
