SUMMARY

 

The Business Manager is responsible for managing the revenue cycle for JASA’s geriatric mental health clinic and satellites. S/he ensures that the billing protocols are followed, tracks revenues and expenses, and verifies that insurance information is accurate and authorized, thereby moving the billing process accurately from the clinic to the payers to JASA’s finance department. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verifies insurance for all patients and obtains precertification and reauthorizations
  • Manages billing for all self-pay and co-pays
  • Ensures that the billing process initiates correctly and timely and moves it from clinicians to JASA’s finance department
  • Posts invoices to the system
  • Runs and manages pre-billing reports
  • Contacts Managed Care payers to resolve claim issues as well as to communicate with Payers about any other matters pertaining to billing
  • Works with Finance on denials and write-offs
  • Creates actionable reports for operations to improve compliance and collections
  • Supervises the receptionist/scheduler
  • May work across multiple sites, some travel within NYC may be required
  • Performs such other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2 years’ experience in the administrative/financial aspect of medical billing; knowledge of the standard steps within the revenue cycle management process preferred
  • Experience at an Article 31 mental health clinic or an understanding of ICD 10 diagnoses, APG, OMH modifiers and other important components of behavioral health billing to managed care a plus
  • Computer proficiency required and database/electronic health record experience preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail, results oriented, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and seamlessly as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and creativity
