JASA’s CIAA NORC Celebrates Hanukah, Christmas and Kwanza

On December 23, over 30 seniors at JASA’s Coney Island Active Aging (CIAA) NORC celebrated a joint Hanukah, Christmas and Kwanza holiday party. Surprise guests included 10th grade volunteers from Victory Collegiate High School in Canarsie and their assistant principal, Claubentz Dieujste. Also in attendance were JASA’s Program Director, Donna Bailey and Civic Engagement Coordinator, Larissa Belcic. Seniors and students learned the history and traditions of all the holidays celebrated by the diverse community of CIAA-NORC.

The CIAA-NORC Drama Group performed songs and readings in celebration of Hanukah, Christmas and Kwanza. The Drama Group has 11 members ranging in age from 60-78 and represents five backgrounds - African American, Asian, Caribbean, Hispanic and Jewish.

Seniors, students, volunteers and staff shared a good time, a good laugh and a good meal!
