While our country's older adult population has shown steady growth for some time, explosive growth is expected during the next several years. By 2010, the number of adults age 75 and older will increase by nearly 50%, and the number of those 85 and older will increase by 127%. These statistics hold additional significance in New York City, where the number of elderly residents is sharply on the rise. The metropolitan area's elderly population will increase even more dramatically in 2011 when "Baby Boomers" begin turning 65.
As an innovator in services for the aging, JASA is prepared to meet the challenges posed not only by New York City's growing senior population, but by an increasingly complex social service system. In order to meet the heightened demand for our programs, JASA has expanded both its comprehensive range of core services and its menu of innovative programming. What's more, to take advantage of new technologies in data acquisition, JASA has established a new, enhanced Web site.
While we hope that you will find the information on this site to be useful and informative, please remember that, as always, we are only a phone call away. JASA's Help Center can help you to cut through the complexity of the social service infrastructure by providing you with information on services and programs, giving you referrals and arranging for social worker home visits.
By reason of our experience, and the high quality of the service, guidance, and advocacy we provide in matters concerning the elderly, JASA has earned a reputation for excellence and has become a trusted resource for the senior citizens of New York. We are proud of our reputation and committed to preserving that trust.
